On Wednesday, November 30th, Arkansas Farm Bureau recognized Darren Hawkins of Beebe High School as its Outstanding Agriculture Educator of the Year. The Outstanding Ag Educator award recognizes a high school agriculture education instructor for efforts in teaching young people about agriculture, leadership and involvement in the National FFA Organization.
\r\nMr. Hawkins, along with his teaching partners Mason Hudson and Dusty Baxter, leads the Beebe High School FFA program, which boasts a membership of approximately 300 students. Mr. Hawkins has been teaching for 33 years and in that time has been instrumental in building Beebe FFA into the successful and highly respected program that it is today. When asked what the highlight of teaching is for him, he shared that he enjoys hearing from former students and knowing he was a positive influence on their life.
\r\n“I’m blessed to lead an agriculture program and FFA chapter that receives so much support from our administration, faculty, staff and community,” Hawkins said. “I feel fortunate to play a small role in educating the future leaders of our state’s ag industry.”
